Alberto Vargas
(1896-1982)

Born in Peru, Alberto Vargas immigrated to the United States during WWI from Europe. His 60 year career is remembered alongside the cultural contributions of Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol. Working in New York during the Roaring Twenties and in Hollywood during the glamorous Thirties, Vargas created beautiful women for clients including Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Fox Studios, Playboy and Esquire. Alberto’s proudest moment was his pro-bono work for the US Armed forces during WW2 contributing spectacularly glamorous life-like images supporting our troops. Alberto Vargas’ work has been recreated over a billion times worldwide and his books have received great praise with forwards from Kurt Vonnegut and Hugh Hefner. “Show me something more beautiful than a beautiful women and I will paint it.”
